Tracks
Here's a few snippets of some of my most recent tracks and what inspired me to create them
I know what you want from me
I was listening to a lot of James Blake when I was writing this track and took a lot of influence from the way he processes his vocal sounds. This track really shines on big systems with the kick and bass working beautifully together to give the track a real drive behind the massive synth sound.
Close encounter
Not a whole lot of though went into this one. I got in a groove with the first melody and then added the bass on top of that and everything felt right. The drums really keep the energy high and there is a constant back and forth between call and response melodies and counter melodies that give these track a sense of fun with some chord stabs as the icing on the cake.
Shrimp stimpy
I admit the buildup in this track is a bit long but the payoff when the vocal chops come in pays off. This is definitely my favourite track of mine and I don't know how anyone could possibly not dance when they hear that vocal with the groove
GTFOP
Just a chill pop track. The synths ducking to the kick feel like the flame on the end of a match blowing in the wind, the beautiful vocals give it a pop polish, and there's just enough guitar to keep you warm.
Running Away
Who can't relate to this? You fell like you give everything to somebody and the push you away. The harder you try, the harder the push. This song is about letting go and moving on when you've done all you can and failed.
late night calling
My first attempt and drum and bass and personally I love it. That's probably because of the amazing vocals though. This track is definitely trying to send a message and I hope you get it.
f.m.
This is a track to listen to when everything in life is pissing you off and you just think F 'em all! I'm going to get on with living my best life and there's nothing you can do about it
sleep in spring
If you're not a fan of granular textures then this one is probably going to be a bit much. There's a lot going on here and a lot of movement but that kick really ties everything together and gives it some groove. The tempo change at the end really brings it home.
aiming
A very relaxing downtempo song with still enough tension and release to stay interesting. The vocal sample is beautiful in this track and I really tried to highlight it and build the whole track around it. This is a much less beat or dance focussed and a nice track to sit back and listen to while relaxing
limited
This is one of the first tracks I ever finished. It has all the tropes of 2010s dance music and I think anyone who was around the electronic dance music scene back then will be able to tell who this is influenced by
feelin' af
This is just a feel good dance track, nothing more to it. It build and it drops. Very generic but is that such a bad thing?
